The flowers behind our photos…
On June 28, 2024 by Three Brothers Blooms
When I first started posting photos of our flowers, my sole intent was to get people to stop and see them. REALLY see them. Even if they had seen that particular flower thousands of times before, I wanted them to see it differently in that one moment. To see it as spectacular. Something deserving of time and wonder. I thought that if people could see the flowers exactly how I do, then they might feel what I feel. When I look at my flowers, I feel wonder, joy, marvel, and an incredible connection to something bigger. Something beautiful. Everyone should get to feel this at least once a day, but because not everyone has the ability to grow their own flowers, I hoped they could feel some of that same joy in seeing mine. I also feel like flowers deserve more attention than most people are willing to give them. And I hoped to change that.
My photos are not complex, they are all taken in front my kitchen window with my sea salt bluish-gray wall as a backdrop. The window brings in the perfect amount of natural light every morning, and my iPhone takes the shot. I’ve settled into a comfortable routine of selecting a particular flower and giving it a space to be seen. My content is consistent and my photos can be easily identified as such. But over the past few months requests to visit my little farm have been steadily increasing. As my farm is not open to public (allowing my family privacy), I thought it might be time to start sharing some of it for those who hope to grow the same flowers within the same amount of space for themselves.
Our little flower farm spans just under 1/2 acre. In this modest space we grow more than 150 roses, over 200 bearded irises, just under 100 peonies, a few hundred dahlias, a sufficient amount of perennials and thousands of annuals. While I have the ability to expand, I choose not to. I want the workload to be manageable and if I increase any further it will not be. So if you follow us on instagram, you will start see a shift in our content. The same photos you have always seen will continue to fill our feed, but I will be incorporating in some additional photos and videos as to how we grow and care for the flowers we feature. If you have any questions or if there is anything you especially want to see more of, please do let me know. I am so grateful to have your company and support.
